Members of Hill Farm Youth Club who wished to play rugby independently of the youth club founded Keresley Rugby Football Club in 1953. In its early years the club used a succession of public houses as its home. In 1971 the Club moved to Burrow Hill Lane where it rented what was then a single storey water pumping station. This was previously owned by the Coventry Water Company and rented from Coventry City Council. The club added a second storey, an extension to house changing rooms and made numerous internal alterations. Over the years it was successful in purchasing the ‘1st and 2nd team' pitches from British Coal and the 3rd and 4th pitches from Warwickshire County Council. Finally in 1994, the purchase of the Club House, Car Park and Mini Rugby pitch from Coventry City Council completed Keresley Rugby Club as it appears today.
Traditionally playing in Scarlet, Royal Blue and White irregular hoops, Navy Blue Shorts and Royal Blue Socks with Red and White Hoops at the top, the club is renowned for its powerful forward play and over the years has supplied Senior Warwickshire Clubs with a number of players. The K's currently field a two senior men's sides and play. Keresley also has one of the oldest Mini & Junior sections in the County, which runs sides from under 6 and runs a Development Section from the ages of 4.
The introduction and development of these other sports are in line with the ambition to provide a multi-sport facility for the local community. We are constantly looking to improve our facilities and offer a wide range of sporting activities to men, women and children from the local area, thus securing the long-term future of the Club. A development committee is in place to prioritise the improvements to the facilities, the introduction of additional sports and to identify sources of funding for the project. Currently a five-year rolling development plan is in operation.
Keresley RFC currently supports the following
Rugby, Netball, Bowls, Football, Lacrosse, Holiday Camps, Local Schools, Warwickshire Schools
